Building the Church

In Matthew 16:18 Christ said, "And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this ROCK I will build my church; and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." The Rock that is being referred to is not Peter, it is in fact the doctrinal truth that Christ is the son of God and the foundation of Christianity.
