Teaching Teens About Forgiveness

How to Help Teenagers Offer the Gift of Forgiveness

There's an old saying often used by youth which promotes the concept that sticks and stones may break bones but words will never hurt. Not so. To be treated disrespectfully, ignored or insulted are forms of rejection that can be humiliating, or even devastating to one's self-esteem. The response might be simple avoidance, or maybe introversion, or to lash out in anger towards them or to get even. Life is full of different situations where people's actions or reactions towards others are unpleasant or even mean. Vengeance is not the answer. God's Word says to forgive them.
